Want to become funnier??  Ever thought about trying standup comedy?!?  Well, here's your chance!  Whether you want to embark on a career in standup comedy or just always wanted to try it, this standup comedy class at Nick Conti's Professional Actor's Studio is the perfect opportunity!  Next class starts in August. 

WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS?  THIS CLASS IS FOR ANYONE WHO....

  • Has been told they are funny

  • Wants to learn how to be funnier

  • Wants to improve confidence/effectiveness in public speaking or presentations

  • Wants to learn more about how to become a standup comic

  • Wishes to learn the basics of joke writing and performing in standup comedy

  • Has 'standup comedian' on their bucket list

  • Wants to try something new, and have a great time doing it

CLASS

This class is 8 sessions 7 weeks plus 1 graduation show performance.  Course is for brand new comedians taught by working standup comics Gilbert lawand and Andy Sandford.  The course will consist of 8 Weeks/8Classes plus performances three hour classes that will cover standup basics: joke writing/structure, timing, delivery, performance, and ultimately what makes you funny! Each week, we will use a 70-plus page workbook (provided) as a guide and provide individual attention for each student.  Andy and Gilbert are extremely active in the local comedy scene and can also guide you on where the best shows (open mics, etc) are to continue your development after the class is over.

GRADUATION SHOW

The class will conclude in the sixth week with a graduation show where you will deliver a 5-7 minute performance in front of a packed audience at Comedy Gold, a weekly award winning standup comedy show produced by Gilbert Lawand.  You'll realize the thrill of performing your original material in front of a live audience!  you will also receive a DVD recording of the performance; this will be an experience to remember!

COST

The cost for the six week is $250 and includes the following:

  • Seven 3 Hour Classes - 3:30pm - 6:30pm at Nick Conti's Professional Actors Studio
  • Course Packet - workbook containing material discussed in classes
  • Graduation Show - show off your new skills in an unforgettable ay
  • DVD - professionally recorded to show your friends, family, neighbor, therapist, etc.
